SWIMMING CLUB COMPETITORS IN GOOD FORM.. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the local Swimming Club’s meeting some excellent form was displayed by Misses A. Johnson and M. McGill. ! Personal Items. ' Misses M. Dempster and A. Foss have returned home after having visited Levin. Mr and Mrs W. Boston are spending a holiday at Waikanae Beach. Constable C. Price, of Port Chalmers, is visiting his parents at Kaiwaiwai. Miss J. Higginson; of Wellington, is spending a few days with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Higginson, Lyon Street. •The following is an extract from a book called “Retreat in the East,” by O. D. Gallagher:—“Among them was a Sergeant Pilot named Victor Bargh, of Featherston, whom they called Ketchel, which is Malay for small. He had been posted to Rangoon from Singapore. He was the idol of the ground crews, and said the A.V.G. was a corn flyer. He did the most extraordinary things in his Buffalo and was more completely at home in an aeroplane than any other pilot he had met. He did things instinctly when he was flying.” Sergeant Pilot Bargh, who is the son of Mr and Mrs W. Bargh, Pahautea, has been overseas two years.
COSY THEATRE “APPOINTMENT FOR LOVE.” Tomorrow night’s pogramme will be headed by the brilliant comedy drama, “Appointment for Love,” in which Charles Boyer and Margaret Sullavan are seen in new roles depicting the difficulties of a sophisticated careercoupled in their ultra-modern domestic complications. Rita Johnson, Eugene Pallette, Ruth .Terry and Reginald Denny are also in the picture.
