PENROSE FARM
USE IN REHABILITATION SCHEME TRUSTEES STILL WITHOUT ADVICE. FOLLOWING INSPECTION LAST . SEPTEMBER. No word has yet been received by the Trustees of the Wairarapa Training Farm as to the use of the Penrose property by the Rehabilitation Board for the farm training of returned service men. The board members inspected the property on September 23 and the impression given on that occasion was that early use of the farm was probable. The chairman of the Rehabilitation Board, Mr Moohan, assured the trustees, who had offered the farm for the training of returned men, that the board would be glad to take advantage of the offer. The board, he said, had already asked the National Service Department to supply it with a list of young men suitable for training. The board would be very happy to do something for such men and it was anxious to make a good selection for a start. He said that from what he had seen, the farm was eminently suitable for the purpose in view. So far as the board was concerned it would be pleased to take advantage of the farm’s possibilities and would be glad to discuss with the trustees further procedure in connection with rehabilitation.
Following the meeting the trustees wrote to the board putting forward suggestions for the training of men on the farm. Nothing further has since been heard from the board.
