BURMA FRONT

VISITED BY SIR A. WAVELL COMMANDER-IN,CHIEI* WELL SATISFIED. “WITH WAY THINGS ARE GOING” LONDON, January 15. On his return from a visit to the Burma front, the Com-mander-in-Chief, India, Field Marshal Sir Archibald Wavell, told correspondents that he was very well satisfied with the way tilings were going. The biggest problem, he said, was transport. An Indian Army officer who has just returned from Burma, states that the British troops have now thrust forward to an important hill 25 miles north of Akyab. The casualties among the Allied land forces have been very light. Good use is being made of air cover for the British troops.
