4 MADE BV GERMAN ADMIRAL TO CONFER WITH JAPANESE CHIEF OF STAFF. REPORTED SINKING OF AMERICAN SHIP. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, January 14. A Stockholm message quotes a report from Berlin that Admiral Doenitz travelled in a submarine around the Cape of Good Hope in order to keep a rendezvous with Admiral Nagano, Chief of the Japanese Naval Staff, at sea off Madagascar. During the trip the submarine sank an 8,000ton American merchantman, off Cape Town. ___________
