DEATH IN U.S.A.

MR CHARLES L. STARK. WELL-KNOWN IN WAIRARAPA DISTRICT. Formerly well-known in the Wairarapa, Mr Charles Leggett Stark, 62, died on November 30 last at Mountain Home, North Carolina, U.S.A. His death followed a lengthy illness. The late Mr Stark was a native .of New Zealand and went to the United States many years ago as representative of the de Laval Company, manufacturers of dairy equipment. He saw service in the Boer War, in which campaign he was chief of supply in the quartermaster corps under General Bullards. He had resided in Mountain Home for the past 18 years, during which time he was an outstanding member of his community. At the time of his death he was associated with Mrs E. W. Ewbank in the Home and Garden Realty Company.

In 1921 he married Miss Hessie Shiland and in 1924 Mr and Mrs Stark went on a world tour. Returning to Mountain Home they took up their permanent residence there. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sisters and four brothers residing in this country.
