OBITUARY

MR W. H. P. BARBER. LONG SERVICE ON WELLINGTON LOCAL BODIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The 'death has occurred of Mr William Henry Peter Barber at the age of 85. A conspicuous figure in the business life of Wellington for many years, he was a member of Parliament from 1902 to 1908, a member of the City Council for 26 years, and for many years a member of the Hutt Valley Power Board. He was chairman of the Wellington College Board of Governors for seven years. At the time of his death he was chairman of the Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Company, and in the past had been connected with many other business interests. 'His wife died mllny years ago. He leaves three sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs Alfred and Leonard Barber, Auckland and Mr Roy Barber, Palmerston North, and the daughters Mrs Mountier, Wellington, and- Mrs Day, Palmerston North.
