Mrs Hayden, of Holloway Street, Carterton, has returned home after having visited Dannevirke and Na- , pier. Mr and Mrs Johnson, of Lower Hutt, who have been visiting Carterton, returned home yesterday. The funeral of the late Mr Scott Hayes, of Blackball, who died at the Masterton Hospital, took place yesterday at the Clareville Cemetery. The services at King’s Mortuary Chapel ana at the graveside were conducted by i the Rev. W. F. Stent. The pall-bear-ers were Messrs F. Hayes, J. Dew, R. Young and Pte. V. Hayes. Rates Penalty. The Carterton Borough Council has decided that a 10 per cent penalty will be imposed in connection with all rates not paid on or before Monday, February 15. Card Tourney. The card tournament held by the Carterton Boy Scout Committee last evening was well attended. The prizewinners were: —Ladies: Mrs M. J. Parker, 1; Mrs Page, 2. Men: Mr Edwards, 1; Mr G. Goodin, 2. REGENT THEATRE TWO BIG FEATURES. Two big features will be presented tonight. “One Million 8.C.” is a story of the early creation of the world starring Victor Mature and Carol Landis. “Washington Melodrama” is an excellent mystery drama in which Frank Morgan, Ann Rutherford and Kent Taylor have the principal roles.
