NEW JAPANESE OFFENSIVE IN SHANSI. MANY PRISONERS TAKEN BY CHINESE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1.20 p.m.) RUGBY, January 13. The Japanese have opened an offensive in Shansi Province, according to an Agency message from Chungking. The Chinese are resisting successfully, having taken many prisoners and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy in fierce combats.
