BOWLING CHAMPION PAIRS CONTEST. (“Times-Age” Special.) Playing in the champion pairs on the Carterton green last evening the “two lifers” had a most interesting contest and play throughout was fairly close. On the 13th end the score was 1,6/10 in favour of Hughan. On the 18th head he led by 20/16. The last three ends went to Barr with three singles. The final score was: De Lacey and Hughan (s) 20, Pankhurst and Barr (s) 19. Progressive pairs: Spooner and Curtis (s) beat Daysh and McCarty (s). 25/18. Personal Items. Mrs H. Hodder, on behalf of members of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers Union, has forwarded a woollen jersey to Aircraftman Doug. Vaughan, who is now a resident of Wanganui. Mr and Mrs E. T. Beaven, who had spent a holiday in Wanganui, have returned to Carterton. Children’s Party. At the recent children’s parly held by the Women’s Division of the Farm-, ers’ Union in the State Theatre, Carterton, the sum of £l7, was taken. This amount has been forwarded to the Mercantile Marine headquarters in Wellington for the benefit of sailors. A cake competition held in conjunction with the party was won by Mrs I. Sexton, South Carterton. REGENT THEATRE “SO ENDS OUR NIGHT.” One of the most appealing love stories ever, brought to the screen, “So Ends Our Night,” will be finally shown at the Regent Theatre tonight. Frederic March and Margaret Sullavan are cast in the principal roles. Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by the two outstanding pictures, “Washington Melodrama” and ‘One Million 8.C.” _
