HEAVY FIGHTING
IN CHINESE PROVINCES. MANY JAPANESE KILLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CHUNGKING, January 11. A communique says that Japanese columns converging from Hupeh and Anhwei entered Hwangchwan and severe street fighting is progressing. More than 1000 Japanese were killed or wounded in a battle north of Lotien, in eastern Hupeh.- The Chinese attacked Japanese outposts near Nanchang and captured two strongpoints. They inflicted more than 200 casualties and set fire to barracks.
