LONDON, January IL Another big success for the Soviet forces in the Northern Caucasus is reported in a special announcement from Moscow, which records the capture of several more towns in that area, including the important railway junction of Georgievsk and the towns of Piatigorsk and Miniralnyevodi. Great booty was 3/lso taken Elsewhere in Southern Russia the Soviet armies continue to roll the enemy back. In the Lower Don region Soviet forces have captured several more villages on their approach to Rostov, the gateway to the Caucasus. The Russians at seveial points are now only 60 to 70 miles from that city. Soviet forces operating on the eastern bank of . the Don have also captured more villages. . ~ , -J On the central front a bitter struggle is proceeding between Velikiye Luki and the key town of Neval. The Germans launched big counter-attacks but failed to regain any of the ground they have lost. The Germans have not yet admitted the loss of Velikiye Luki, but the German news agency makes the significant statement that the German garrison there has suffered heavy losses.
