Mr F. E. Rockel, formerly on the staff of the Masterton West School, is at present visiting Masterton, The death of Lady Carncross, widow of Sir Walter Carncross, former Speaker of the Legislative Council, occurred at Eltham last night as the result of an accident she met with about a week ago, says a Press Association telegram from New Plymouth. Lady Carncross was 85 years of age. Appointed to the newly-created position of dietitian in the Departmnet of Health, Wellington, Miss M. G. Frengley has taken up her duties. The importance of dietary and nutrition is being more fully appreciated in medical and nursing work, and Miss Frengley’s is the second important appointment made in this field in the last two years. The first was that of Dr. Muriel Bell, who was appointed at the beginning of 1941 to the dual positions of nutritionist to the Department of Health and medical research officer under the Nutrition Research Committee. Dr. Bell will continue to act in these capacities.
