ALLIED BOMBERS OBTAIN GOOD RESULTS. FIRES STARTED AT AKYAB. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) RUGBY, January 8. A joint Indian communique, reports: "R.A.F. bombers attacked the port of Akyab and other objectives in the vicinity last night. A number of heavy bombs were dropped with good results and several fires were seen at Akyab, as they bombers left. During offensive patrols yesterday our aircraft sank four supply sampans south of Akyab, damaged others and attacked Oil installations near Chauk. Rathedaung was bombed by Blenheims, escorted by fighters. None of our aircraft is missing.”
