(Received This Day 11.55 a.m.) RUGBY, January 5. “There is no doubt that before many weeks Hitler Will face one of the gravest disasters of the war,” said the Minister of Labour (Mr Bevin) today, “but we have to go on and see that before very long the whole power of the Allies is brought to bear. Now is the time to put in the big punch, for at the present moment Hitler's armies in Russia are in jeopardy. It is the last round and the last mile that counts.” PEACE OFFENSIVE LIKELY TO BE LAUNCHED BY GERMANY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) ' RUGBY, January 5. “I am convinced that as the Axis dream of victory fades into the grim prospect of defeat, we shall receive from some quarter peace proposals, but we have no intention of allowing Germany an opportunity once again of bringing disaster upon the world,” the British Ambassador to the United States, Viscount Halifax, declared in a speech in Washington.
