Not long ago, General Sikorski, Polish Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chicf, reviewing the three years of war, forecast: “The war will not end in 1942, as some believe. It will be drawn out through a fourth winter. The present period and the beginning of 1943 will be the period of gradual exhaustion for the enemy . .>. it will prepare, the way for the final ..triumph by increasing and concentrating the forces of anti-German coalition and by the planning of decisive blows.”
