AMERICAN BATTLESHIP
DAMAGED ON REEF fiARLY IN WAR. LONG SINCE REPAIRED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.35 a.m.) WASHINGTON, December 29. The Secretary for the Navy (Colonel Knox) told’ a Press conference that an American battleship struck an uncharted reef very early in the war, but had long since been I’epaired. Reporters had questioned Colonel Knox regarding reports that a battleship mishap had occurred in the South Pacific. Colonel Knox gave no details of time or place.
