Made by Russians on Middle Don FURTHER SWEEPING ADVANCE NORTH OF MILLEROVO GERMANS RETREATING IN'DISORDER LONDON, December 23. The Germans have had another severe handling on the Middle Don. The Russians are again driving forward and have advanced another 12 to 18 miles. In a special announcement, Moscow states that 16,00(1 moie Germans have been taken prisoner during the day. A number of places have been-captured and some of them are named by the Russians. These indicate that the Soviet drive is from the north of Millerovo. Some Russian forces are reported to be east and west of the town and others are coming down on both sides of the railway. BT = m« THE GERMANS ARE RETREATING IN COMPLETE DISORDER, LEAVING THE ROADS LITTERED WITH HEAVY GUNS, LORRIES AND TANKS. THE TOTAL OF PRISONERS TAKEN BY THE RUSSIANS ON THE MIDDLE DON DURING THE LAST EIGHT DAYS IS OVER 36,000. DURING THAT TIME THE RUSSIANS HAVE ADVANCED FROM 75 TO 100 MILES AND HAVE CAPTURED A BIG AMOUNT OF BOOTY.
