WINTER QUARTERS

LOST BY THE GERAIANS THROWN BACK ON DON FRONT. MUCH BOOTY IN RUSSIAN HANDS (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, December 22. The Moscow radio stresses' the fact that the Russians, in their advance on the Don front, have dislodged the enemy from positions where the Axis intended to dig in for the winter. The enemy had accumulated large supplies there and the Moscow report says that much booty has been captured. The Germans are unable to hold out against pressure of the Russians and are retreating, although they are still making every effort to stem the Soviet advance.
