MAURICEVILLE WEST
COMBINED PICNIC STATE AND SUNDAY SCHOOLS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was fine weather for the combined State School and Sunday School picnic held at Mauriceville West,, and a most enjoyable time was experienced. During the afternoon Mr Trass, chairman of the school committee, presented prizes to the pupils. Following the singing of a Christmas carol, Mr and Mrs Forsberg gave a present m the form of a book to each Sunday School child. Father Christmas was present and distributed gifts to the children from a well-laden tree. The Sunday School children showed their appreciation of Mr and Mrs Forsberg’s devoted service to them by making them a gift. Miss Grant, school teacher at the Mauriceville West school, was also made a presentation by the school children. A vote of thanks was accorded to the committee and to the parents and friends who had helped to make the occasion so enjoyable. The results of the calf and lamb judging were as follow: —Best calf: Keith Mortensen, 1; Dawn Gaskin, 2; John Osborne, 3. Best lamb: Norma Godden, 1; Mervyn Lehmstedt, 2; Doreen Godden, 3. Std. 6: Violet Trass 1, Willie Lehmstedt 2.
