P. & A. SOCIETY. MEETING AT CARTERTON. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr G .W. Hart presided over the monthly meeting of the general committee of the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society on Saturday. A vote of condolence was passed to Mr J. Crawley in the deatn of his wife, who had been 011 the staff of the society on show days for many years. Members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to her memeory. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £357 13s 2d. The secretary reported that since the last annual meeting supporters of the society had donated £l9l to the funds. The Greytown School Calf Club wrote asking for a donation towards its funds for providing prizes, pointing out that calf and lamb clubs helped considerably with entries at the society’s annual shows. Members expressed sympathy with the calf club activities, but stated that as there was no combined clubs’ championship this year, they could not make a grant. When a combined championship gathering was again held the society would help with prize money. Nurse Smart, of the Middle East Forces, sent Christmas and New Year greetings to the president and members of the society. It was resolved that the greetings be reciprocated. Mr L. T. Daniell, architect of Masterton, replied to the society’s inquiry in regard to earthquake damage suffered by the society’s building. It was decided that Mr Daniell be asked to keep in touch with the authorities in connection with the early restiration of the society’s offices. The chairman extended season s greetings to members and to the staff.
