f CAROL SERVICE HELD IN TOWN HALL LAST NIGHT. I (“Times-Age" Special.) • i Last evening a Christmas carol seri vice was held in the Town Hall. The . combined choirs sang some of the most p popular Christmas hymns and carols. , The Rev. H. Bloomfield and the Rev. J. > R. Higgs conducted the service. The . chief sneaker was the Rev. G. Knowles Burton, of Greytown. Miss Mutter played the accompaniments.. Representatives of the Home Guard and Girl Guides attended the service. Soldiers' Dance. A very successful soldiers’ dance was ' held in the Town Hall on Saturday ’ night, there being a large attendance. ' Mrs Ashton supplied the music, and ex- ’ tras were played by Miss C. Saba and 1 Mrs Le Bone. Mr V. Ashton was M.C. Competitions were won by Messrs Richards, C .Saba and G. White. The Junior Patriotic Committee was in charge of the supper arrangements and decorations. Personal Items. Miss Wilson and Miss Hirst, Wellington, were the guests of Mrs Shepherd during the week-end. Miss Foss left on Saturday for Levin, where she will spend the holidays with Mr and Mrs R. Foss. Miss Carlyon arrived home yesterday from Whakatane. Post Office Hours. On Friday, December 25, Saturday, December 26, Friday, January 1, and Saturday, January 2, the Featherston Post Office will be closed in all branches with the exception of the telephone exchange, which will remain open as usual. The Tauherenikau and Whangaimoana rural deliveries will be suspended on the above-mentioned days. The Wharepapa rural delivery will run on December 24 and December 31, instead of Friday, December 25, and January 1. COSY THEATRE “THE NIGHT OF JANUARY .16’” The famous stage play, “The Night of January J 6,” has been brought to the screen and will be shown pt the Cosy Theatre tomorrow night. The chief roles in this brilliant drama are .taken by Robert Preston, Ellen Drew and Nils Asther, ■
