At a gathering in Masterton on Saturday night a presentation was made to Lieutenant-Colonel W. R. Birch, M.C., on his relinquishing his appointment as group director of the Home Guard ip this area. Speakers at the fathering included Lieutenant-Col-onel A. W. Oakey, M.C., Napier; Major A. L. Hibbs, D.C.M., zonte commander; Majors E. N. Hogben, EJ.D., S. Macrae and H. G. Carter.
