BIG DAYLIGHT RAID

ENEMY AERODROME BEYOND PARIS BOMBED BY LARGE AMERICAN FORCE. CONSIDERABLE R.A.F. FIGHTER PROTECTION. LONDON. December 20. Nearly 300 R.A.F. fighters, escorted large formations of American bombers in a big raid on France today. They formed an umbrella for Flying Fortresses and Liberators, which attacked a large German airfield 80 miles beyond Paris and 180 miles from the French coast. It was the first time this objective was raided. . Little was seen of enemy aircraft, but when they were spotted there was little fighting. Fighters also carried out offensive patrols in Holland, where they attacked railways and canals. Mosquito bombers raided northwest Germany today. Railways, factories and an airfield were attacked. One Mosquito bomber is missing and two Coastal Command planes are also missing. . . . ... Six bombers are missing from tne operations in France.
