ALLIES IN TUNISIA
REGROUPED ON NEW LINE IN READINESS FOR ULTIMATE ATTACK. SOME BOGGED TANKS IN HANDS OF GERMANS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) RUGBY, December 18. The situation on the whole front in Tunisia remains very quiet and three days have gone by without contact with the enemy, says an agency correspondent, ' cabling on Wednesday. Reports indicate that the Germans have moved their tanks to the Mateur sector from the south. It is also reported that the Germans in the Medjez el Bab area are using American tanks, which had become bogged near Tebourba at the last weekend. The three days’ lull has given the Allies time for complete regrouping on a new line, which is the strongest possible for an ultimate attack. There is very little enemy air activity. An Algerian regiment forms part of a front line brigade.
