HOME GUARD
CHANGES IN COMMAND MASTERTON AREA. ROUTINE ORDERS FOR WEEK. Changes are announced in the command of the Masterton Home Guard. Major A. L. Hibbs, late officer commanding the Masterton Battalion, is appointed zone commander (part time) and Lieutenant Colonel W. R. Birch has relinguished his appointment as group director. Captain S. J. Gilman is appointed acting-commanding officer of the Masterton Battalion, and Captain Raymond Lee becomes General Staff Officer 111 to the zone comfnander.
The routine orders of the Masterton Battalion state, inter alia: — Parades of H.Q., A, B and C companies for January 4 as arranged by company commanders. (Minimum of eight hours training for January and February). . Marched out: Capt. E. W. Cheeham to sth 1.M.R.: Lieut. S. V. Playsted to A.T.C.; Guardsman E. Youngquest to R.N.Z.A.F.; Corporal W. E. Holdgate to Group 8, Hawera Battalion; Guardsman A. D. Quayle to Group 8, Wellington. Appointments: Capt. S. J. Gilman to be acting-commanding officer battalion; Capt. A. O. Jones to be 2 i/c Bn; Lieut. D. Hogg to be O.C. H.Qrs. Company; Lieut. W. V. Caseley io be O.C. A Company; Lieut C. R. Judd to be 2 i/c A Company; Lieut C. A. Whiteman to be Bn. Q.M. Marched in: Guardsmen N. Logan, A. R. McLean to Medical Pl. H.Q. Coy, A. R. Mills to M.M.G. Pl., Stewart L. Me. to Pioneer Pl. H.Q. Coy; W. Allan to Te Ore Ore P. B. Coy; L. Hintz to Signal Pl. H.Q. Coy; E. B. Hiscox to Signal Pl. H.Q. Coy. Transfers: Guardsmen A. Urquhart from A. Coy, Pool to No. 1 Pl. A. Coy.
