SALE AT ADDINGTON. PRICES SHOW IMPROVEMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 16. At Addington today larger entries of fat stock met with an improved market with the exception of secondary fat ewes which were 5s a head lower. With abnormal growth of feed throughout the country competition for all classes of store sheep was very keen and every pen sold under the hammer at prices slightly in advance of recent rates. The best price for older sheep was 19s Gd. others 18s 3d to 245. Woolly ewes and lambs made from 12s 3d to IGs. Fat wethers were firm in the early and midd.le stages, but except for good quality sheep, prices toward the close showed a drop of from. 4s to 5s a head. The fat cattle market hardened later. Best steers brought fully 10s a head more than last week, with others' firm. In the porker section the average price per lib. was 7Ld to 9d. In the bacon section the average price per lb. was G'/ad to 7*Zsd. MASTERTON SALE. WETHERS AND FAT EWES FIRM. The Associated Auctioneers report as follows on their weekly Masterton sale yesterday as follows:—A large entry of sheep were yarded and met with a strong sale from a fair attendance of buyers. There was a good enquiry for fat sheep, but buyers had their limits and wc*hers and fat owes remained firm on last week's sale. In the store section there was a large entry of several station lines of 2-tooth wethers and these met with a good sale making prices well UP to those of late sales. We report a total clearance as follows:—Fat weIhcrs. 21s. 21s Gd to 22s 3d: fat Down 2-ths.. ’’ls 3d 21s Gd. 22s to 22s Id; fat ewes, 12s, i'l’s (hi'lo 12s 9d; 2-th. wethers, a/c Wmpipi IDs Gd: a/c To Whanga, 19s Id: a/c le Whnnun, 18s lOd; a/c Otahome, 19s; fat and forward condition 4-th. wethers made to 21s l()d There was a keen enquiry for small low' condition. 2-th. wethers and these made from 17s. 17s'3d to 18s lOd, while small m.s. Downs made 1(19 9d.
