ROTARY CLUB

FINAL MEETING OF YEAR; DISCUSSION ON‘RUSSIA. The final meeting in 1942 of the Masterton Rotary Club was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms today. The president, Mr J. H. Cunningham, presided over a good attendance of members to whom he extended seasonal greetings. Captain W. L. Free, D.C.M.,’ and Nfr Arthur Corskie were the guests of the club. A most interesting article (a summary of which appears elsewhere in this issue) on Russia, which was read by' Mr E. G. Coddington, formed the basis of a discussion on the Soviet Union, in which Mr J. H. Cunningham gave details in respect to the development of trade and commerce in Russia. On the motion of Mr S. L. P. Free, the speakers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr Coddington, vice-president, on behalf of members, conveyed good wishes to the president for the Christmas season. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr Cunningham made a presentation from the club to Miss Butcher and her two assistants, Misses Norma Davies and Josephine Steele, in appreciation of the able manner in which they had attended to the luncheon arrangements during the year.
