How 4000 ounces of New Guinea gold was saved from the Japanese has been told by Mr G. M. Kerr, of the Bulolo Gold Dredging Company, a '« Sydney cablegram reports. The gold was sent to Bulolo by the New Guinea administration and Mr Kerr buried it before the Japanese arrived in the area. The gold lay in its hiding place for three months before Mr Kerr considered it safe to lead a party of army officers to the spot. It was recovered and shipped to Australia, arriving only a few weeks ago. After burying the treasure, Mr Kerr went on front-line duty. He alone knew the hiding place.
