SERVICE APPEALS
SITTING OF MASTERTON BOARD CASES HEARD AT YESTERDAY’S HEARING. MANY SINE DIE ADJOURNMENTS GRANTED. The Masterton Armed Forces Appeal Board concluded its sitting in Masterton yesterday, when there were present: Messrs T. Jordan (chairman), L. T. Daniell, F. Cole and G. F. Whitlock (secretary and Crown representative). The Director of National Service, on behalf of Thos. Borthwick and Sons (A’asia), Ltd., lodged the following appeals, which were dealt with as follow: Adjourned sine die: James L. Upritchard, butcher; Douglas E. Richards,, shift engineer; Archer Daken, works employee; John H. Blair, refrigeration engineer; Reginald S. Lee, shearer and casing worker. Adjourned to June 30, 1943: Alick R. Sayer, carpenter, to serve in E.F.S.; Marius Page, meat packer; Reginald Malton. labourer; Frederick S. Knott, shepherd, to serve in E.F.S.; Angus C. J. Keats, seasonal worker.
Adjourned to April 30: Jack R. Cook, labourer; Ernest R. Clapp, works employee. Adjourned to March 31, 1943: George Chambers, shipping clerk. Unless otherwise stated, all the above reservists are required to serve in the Home Guard within seven days. The following appeals were lodged by the Wairarapa Primary Production Council: —
Adjourned sine die: Norman Thomas Smart, labourer; Oswold Beresford O’Connor, dairy farmer; Edward Robert Maunsell, farmer; Cyril Randal Judd, sheep farmer; Eric Royden Gray, motor driver Victor Rupert Charles Grantham, motor driver Lewis Alfred Edward Holmes, farm manager; Charles Donaldson, drover; Percival Raymond Corbett, farm manager; Alexander Braid Burns, farm manager; Ralph Buchanan, shepherd; David Sanders Aitchison, dairy farmer; William Nugent Walker, farm hand; Yuk Yuen Wong, fruiterer; Maurice Campbell Wilkin, dairy farmer. Service postponed: John Mclntosh, farm hand, to January 31, 1943. An appeal lodged by A. A. Napier for Alexander Bryce Napier, farmer, was adjourned sine die. An appeal by the Reliance Tire Co. for Basil V. Bodie, manager, was adjourned sine die. An appeal by Basil V. Bodie for John William Barnes, tire rebuilder, was dismissed, the reservist to serve aftei' March 31, 1943.
