SERVICE APPEALS

MASTERTON ARMED FORCES BOARD DISTRICT CASES DEALT WITH. SINE DIE ADJOURNMENTS. A sitting of the Masterton Armed Forces Appeal Board was held in the Masterton Courthouse today, when a number of cases relating to military service were dealt with. There were present: Messrs T. Jordan (chairman), L. T. Daniell. F. Cole and G. F. Whitlock (secretary and Crown representative).

Denby); Robert John Poole, farm hand (Wairarapa Production Council); Ronald Clive Wyeth, farm hand (Director of National Service); John Charles D. Mackley, County clerk (Masterton County Council); Harold Bruce McMasters, farm hand (E. C. Holmes); Archibald Hughan McPhee, farmer (A. M. McPhee); James Ferguson Beattie, share milker (J. Beattie); Douglas John Falloon (trustees estate J. W. A. Falloon); Terence Henry Falloon, farm hand (trustees estate of J. W. A. Falloon; Reginald Horsbrugh Matthews (farm manager (R. W. Matthews); Frederick Thomas Pain, shepherd (estate A. W. I. Campbell); Edward Francis Messenger, bank clerk (Bank of Australasia); Robert William Seymour, shepherd (estate S. M. George). Masterton Fire Board, for the following members of the E.F.S.: Norman Bruce, deputy superintendent; Andrew Wilson Esler, sawmill hand; Bernard Lusted McCarthy, motor engineer; Arthur Earl Viles, storeman; Roy Clarence Clark, fireman driver; Garrett Simpson, labourer.

Norman Foreman, sheep farmer (reservist); Roland Evercd Crockett, farm appraiser, (W. B. Gillies farmer); George Richard Ward, dental mechanic (J. W. Dove, dentist): Edward Patrick Savage, sheep farmer (reservist); Leslie Wilfred Dunn, farmer (the Director of National Service); Norman T. A. Scott (Bruce Donald).

Adjourned: Herbert Arthur Harris, farm hand (R. H. Matthews) to March 31, 1943. The board directed that reservist be replaced by a grade II man if possible. Victor Hibbard, farm manager (W. J. Millington), to March 31, 1943.

Appeals were lodged by the Masterton Fire Board for the following E.F.S. members: —Sydney Jarvis, carpenter; Thomas Leslie Martin, labourer; Robert Mortimer Moss, slaughterman; Burton L. B. Clemas, service car driver; John P. St. Clair and Lionel G. Sayer, all to March 3, 1943.

William Hector Tooby, labourer (Farmers Mauriceville Lime Co., Ltd.), to January 31, 1943.

Service postponed: Robert Edward Barnes, clerk (Masterton County Council), to March 31, 1943. Reservist opposed the appeal. Bruce John Miller, shepherd (trustees estate R. A. M. Miller), to March 31, 1943.
