IT IS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED IN CAIRO THAT THE GERMAN FORCES HAVE BEEN THROWN OUT OF THEIR. POSITIONS ROUND EL AGHEILA AND ARE NOW RETREATING WESTWARD TOWARDS TRIPOLI. The El Agheila defences are of great natural strength, the position being a narrow bottleneck of about thirty miles, with the sea on one flank and salt marshes on the other.
