CHAINED GERMANS

UNSHACKLING. ORDERED ACTION BY GREAT BRITAIN AND CANADA. % MEN TO BE RELEASED TOMORROW. LONDON, December 10. All German prisoners of war placed in chains by Britain and Canada are to be unshackled on Saturday. Official announcements to this effect were made in London and Ottawa this evening. The men have been in chains since October, following Germany’s action‘in shackling British and Canadian prisoners of war. Two days ago Britain and Canada were approached by Switzerland, with the suggestion that they should free from shackles all German prisoners of war on Tuesday next. The same proposal was being made at the same time to the German Government. The British Government welcomed this move and ordered the prisoners to be unshackled tomorrow.
