WAIRARAPA V. MANAWATU TOURNEY WON BY LOCAL TEAM. A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. Eight representative teams from the Manawatu Centre, under the leadership of their president, Mr J. A. Nash, journeyed to Masterton on Saturday on their annual visit. The tourney was held on the Masterton and Park greens. The visitors were welcomed at the Park by Mr H. M. Smith, Centre secretary, and at Masterton by Mr. Geo. Hayne, Centre president, and Mi' H. B. Thomas, president of the Masterton Club. Feeling reference was made to the death of Mr Dunderdale, patron of these, intercentre visits, and a brief period of silence was observed as a mark cjf respect to his memory. ’The Manawatu bowlers rendered songs of greeting, which were fully appreciated. The visitors were entertained at lunch, whilst the morning and afternoon tea arrangements were in the capable hands of Mrs Carswell at the Park, and Mesdames Geo. Hayne and G. Beecroft at the • Masterton green. The tourney was considered an outstanding success, and the visitors were enthusiastic in their references to the hospitality of the Wairarapa bowlers.
