MOTOR INSURANCE

Wairarapa company. ANNUAL MEETING OF POLICY HOLDERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting o£ the policy holders of the Wairarapa Automobile Association Mutual Insurance Company was held in Featherston on Tuesday night, the chairman, Mr R. W. Roydhouse presiding. The smallness of the attendance could be attributed to benzine restrictions, plus confidence of policyholders in the directorship, and satisfaction with the continued progress of the company. In moving the adoption of the annual report, the chairman stated that in spite of tho trials inflicted the company had made a very substantial profit, and no less a sum than’ £6OOO would be distributed to policyholders in cash bonuses, he hoped before 1 Christmas. The War Loans had been contributed to, and National Savings Bonds taken up. Assets had grown healthy, and the company could be rated as one of the, soundest in the Dominion. It was a feather in the cap of the Wairarapa Association that it had been the pioneer in the Dominion of Mutual Insurance for motorists, and from their original scheme had sprung the South and North Island Motor Insurance Companies. The Wairarapa Association, he thought, could claim to be the only individual association throughout the world to own and operate its own insurance company. Besides the cash bonus being distributed to policyholders, premiums had been reduced' until they were out of reach of any other company. In spite of th’e war and its calls upon the manpower of the country, the business of the company had kept up remarkably well, and though many members had joined the forces, their continued loyal support, plus the generous support of those still remaining in the country, enabled the company to present such a satisfactory report. Mr J. W. Card seconded the motion and complimented the company upon its continued satisfactory progress. The report was adopted. Tlte remtmefatioh of all officers Was' fixed at the same rate as the preceding year. The notice of motion from the directors, in conformity with a resolution at the previous annual meeting, altering the Articles of Association, was formally moved by the chairman, and carried. Bunny it Was resolved to place on record the appreciation the Company felt at the response of so many of its members to the Colours, together with the wish that the war would soon be Won- and they would return once again to' their usual occupations in good health and
