Federal Judge Campbell sentenced to death Max Hans Haupt, Walter Otto 1 Froehling and Otto Richard Wargin, German naturalised Americans; for treason' in aiding the saboteur Herbert Haupt, knowing that he had returned to America in a German submarine, with the intention of sabotaging the war effort. Max Haupt is the father of Herbert Haupt, one of the six saboteurs recently executed. The wives of the three' meh sentenced to death, Erna Haupt, Lucille Froehling and Kate Wergin, were each sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment and fined 10,000 dollars.
