RED CROSS SOCIETY

COUNTRY SUB-CENTRE. SHOP DAY TOMORROW. The excellent work which the Country Districts Sub-Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society is carrying out is contributing in a substantial manner to the patriotic effort of the Wairarapa. An enthusiastic band of ladies are associated with the activities of the Sub-Centre, and have devoted a large amount of time to the conduct of its affairs. While naturally Red Cross Society work calls chiefly for the services of ladies, it is equally the duty and privilege of men to support the organisation in every possible way, especially in war time when patriotism calls for extra effort. In some districts, branches of the society have a considerable number of men members who render splendid service to the organisation. The normal activities of the Country Districts SubCentre make a considerable call upon the funds, and it is with the object of replenishing these when there is such a demand upon them at the present time, that it is intended to hold a shop clay in the Y.M.C.A. on Friday from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. There will be fancy goods, meat, produce, cakes and old and new clothing for sale, guessing [competitions and amusements • for children.
