DAMAGING RAIDS
MADE BY BRITISH ' FIGHTERS ON NORTHERN FRANCE AND BELGIUM. DARING LOW-LEVEL ATTACKS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 10 a.m.) RUGBY, November 22. • An Air Ministry communique states: “Last night Fighter Command aircraft attacked railways and other targets m the course of offensive patrols ovei Northern France and Belgium. None of our aircraft are missing. Five trains were attacked with bombs or machinegun and cannon fire by a West Riding Squadron. Among those who took part in these operations was the squadron commander himself. Making two sorties, he destroyed a locomotive in the Abbeyville yards on his second patrol and shot up a long goods train. A Hurricane pilot came down to roof level to bomb two trains standing at the Hazebrouck Station. Despite the stream of flak which was coming up at him, he made two further attacks with his machine-guns, observing a serious outbreak of fire and also damage to one of the engines. Other pilots, who bombed two factories, report that clouds of white smoke followed upon their attack.”'’
