' MASTERTON COUNCIL USE OF PARK GRANTED FOR SUNDAY CONCERT. NO CHARGE TO BE MADE AT GATES. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was held in Masterton last night. The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, presided. There were also present: Councillors W. White, A. D. Low, W. H. Judd, W. Kemp. G. D. Wilson, R. Russell, H. E. Gardner, A. T. Jackson. G. W. Morice, J. Ninnes and C. E. Grey. The Wairarapa Interhouse Association applied for permission to use the Park on Sunday afternoon, November 29, for a concert to be given by a military band, and to charge Is for adults and 6d for children, or to take up a silver collection. The association also applied for permission to hold an after church concert in the Regent Theatre. The Park Committee recommended to the council that use of the Park be granted with the right to take up a collection. The chairman of the committee (Councillor Wilson), and Councillor GffiW; Morice, expressed then disapproval of a charge being made at the Park on the Sunday afternoon. The council decided to grant the Association’s request, a collection only to be taken up. An offer from the Masterton Art Club to lend the council a number of framed water colour sketches untila Masterton Art Gallery was formed, was received with thanks. . Councillor A. D. Low, chairman the Gas Committee, reported on tnc recent N.Z. Gas Institute conference which he attended. His report was listened to with interest.
