PUBLIC NOTICES. MASTERTON GOODS TRANSPORT CONTROL COMMITTEE. AS from November 18. 1942, the Stock Cartage Regulations issued by the above Committee are cancelled, and the following regulations will apply to the transport of stock by motor vehicle in the area subject to the control of the Committee: — 1 (a) FAT LAMBS.—Up to January 15, 1943, all fat lambs over 5 miles from the nearest rail or works may be lorried. After that date the distance is to be extended to over 9 miles from the nearest rail or works. (b) In all eases where the distance by road and rail is more than onethird over the distance by road, the distance by road shall be regarded as the distance of the haul, provided that a haul of not more than 30 miles is involved. 2 STORE LAMBS.—AII store lambs must be driven, but in exceptional cases where there are no facilities for droving the Committee will consider applications for permits to lorry such lambs. 3 SHEEP.—No sheep may be lorried except up to 20 to complete a final load of lambs. In exceptional circumstances ewes with young lambs at foot, or other sheep, may be lorried only by permit from the Committee. 4 RAMS & STUD EWES—Provided alternative transport is impracticable or unavailable, rams and stud ewes may be carried by lorry to or from a stud sheep sale or from farm to farmotherwise they must be lorried to or from the nearest railway trucking station. 5 CATTLE.—No cattle may be lorried except—(a) Bulls, other than boners and potters. (b) Dairy cows in milk or close to profit for a distance over 5 miles, subject to a permit being obtained from the Committee. 6 BOBBY CALVES—AII bobby calves are to be carried by a licensed carrier if a carrier is operating in the area concerned. 7 PIGS.—AII pigs going to a bacon factory or freezing works are to be carried by a licensed carrier, if such carrier is operating in the area concerned, and may be lorried only to the nearest railway trucking yard. 8 Owners of car trailers and light trucks carrying “L” plates may cart to or from any saleyard their own stock, but only within their own petrol licence. 9 VEALERS.—These may be carried only by permit from the Committee. 10 Sunday cartage of stock must be reduced to a minimum, and will be allowed only by permit from, the Committee. 11 GENERAL—In all cases stock as defined in clauses 1,2 and 3 may be carried only when the lorry is fully loaded. GENERAL GOODS—A minimum of 70% load, carrying capacity is required; any instances of running with lesser loads will be dealt with by the Committee. To facilitate the obtaining of full loads, both as regards stock and general goods, persons requiring the use of public transport will be required to give notice of their anticipated requirements of NOT LESS THAN: 48 hours in respect of general goods and stock, apart from fat stock. 24 hours in respect of fat stock. PERMITS: Licensed transport operators who may desire to transport goods or stock to areas outside those for which they hold licenses, must obtain the prior approval of the Committee before application is made for a temporary goods service licence.
