TEA CONCESSION

TO BE EXTENDED TO ALL FARMERS AND FARM WORKERS. ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The food and rationing controller, Mr J. E. Thomas, has made arrangements for the morning and afternoon tea concession to be extended to all farmers and farm workers. This was announced last night by the Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan, who said that most of the dairy companies had assisted by handling the distribution of permits to their suppliers, and the scheme was now well in operation. Dairy companies would issue quarterly permits to the following farm workers: —Suppliers whose mam occupation is farming; wives of suppliers engaged full-time on farming work; children of suppliers (not under 14) engaged full-time on farming work; permanent employees of suppliers. “The individual permits issued by the dairy companies may be redeemed at any shop and have a value of 2- 2 lb of sugar and Jib of tea,” said Mr Sullivan. “Farmers who are not dairy company suppliers may make application for the supplementary allowance for themselves and their employees coming within the same definition to local rationing officers, who will be glad to issue permits on the same basis as for factory workers. Permits for special allowances for all casual workers will continue to be issued by rationing officers.”
