The death occurred yesterday at the Pahiatua Hospital of Mr William Fillmore Day, at the age of 77 years. At Martinborough yesterday the death occurred of Mrs Jane Sutherland McLeod, relict of Mr Alec McLeod, in her 96th year.

The death occurred recently in Angaston, South Australia, of the Rev. E. W. Weymouth, formerly minister of the Congregational Church in Masterton. Mr A. Tiplady, who for the last 24 years has been, clerk to the Eltham County Council, will retire on December 1 next. His son, Mr W. A. Tiplady, has been appointed his successor.

The death is announced in a Press Association message from Dunedin of Ensign Hannah Coombs. When the Salvation Army activities commenced in Dunedin in 1883 she was one of the first members and soon revealed high ability in public speaking and organisation. At 21 she was in charge of the corps at Wellington, and subsequently held many important executive posts. The Governor-General has received the following telegram from the private secretary to the King in connection with the death of Mr Armstrong:— “The King much regrets to hear of the death of the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Public Works, and will be glad if you will convey his sympathy to the Prime Minister and the Government in their loss.”
