ACHIEVED BY GERMANS IN RENEWED ASSAULTS AT STALINGRAD. RUSSIANS INFLICT HEAVY LOSSES. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, November 13. The Germans yesterday resumed the offensive against Stalingrad. Last night's Moscow communique stated: "In the Stalmgia area the enemy, having brought up reserves and regrouped forces, again attacked oui positions in all sectors. The attacks were repelled. In one sector the enemy, at the price of huge losses, succeeded ll LP ush “ i ’® forward from 110 to 120 yards, but our troops in a counter-attack repelled the enemy to his original position. "To the north-west of Stalingrad one Soviet unit dislodged the enemy from several buildings in one locality.” Today's Soviet communique reports that in continued fierce fighting at Stalingrad the Russians held grimly to all ., th ® l^ pos ‘ t 1 1 °", s ' n „ The Moscow radio says that the Russians north-west of Stalingrad in a sudden attack have captured an inhabited locality which the Germans had defended for two months. THE CAUCASUS CONFLICT. 1 The latest reports of the fighting in the western Caucasus say that the Germans have been forced on to the defensive and the Russians are advancing. When the Germans two months ago took Novorossisk a small group of Red Army men supported by marines held on in the cement factories in the southern part of the town, and these defenders formed a bridgehead which has been steadily reinforced in the last few weeks. The Germans in the Tuapse area are, therefore, now forced to fight with a stiong Russian force in their rear . The Russians have destroyed a number of these tanks and captuied others in working order. Scores of thousands of Russian propaganda leaflets are being dropped from planes' over the German lines telling the Germans about the Allied offensive in North Africa, ouoting M. Stalin’s speech, and saying that the United Nations will smash the German Army.
