WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT GLADSTONE PRIZE-WINNERS AT FLOWER SHOW. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs Joblin presided over a very good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Gladstone Women’s Institute this week. Members were asked to donate goods to the Red Cross shop day to be held in Masterton. Mrs Joblin gave a very interesting report of the half yearly council meeting held in Carterton recently. The following were the winners in the Hower show:—Sand posy: Miss J. Palmer 1, Miss A. Bubb 2. Men’s buttonhole: Miss C. Cooper 1, Mrs Parker 2. Ladies’ spray; Mrs Joblin 1, Miss A. Bubb 2. Victorian posy: Mrs Riddle 1, Miss J. Palmer 2. Bowl of dowers: Miss C. Cooper 1, Mrs Wellwood 2. Box of flowers: Miss A. Bubb 1, Miss C. Cooper 2. Collection of vegetables: Mrs S. Smith 1. Mrs W. Bubb 2. Three annuals and perennials: Mrs S. Smith 1. Mrs Gaskin, Masterton. was thanked for having judged the exhibits. Miss J. Palmer and her helpers served afternoon tea.
