TIRAUMEA

WOMEN’S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of members of the local Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was presided over by Mrs Harman, there being a good attendance. Cine new member was enrolled. Two parcels for soldiers overseas were packed by Mesdames Robbie and Hansen, and another is to be dispatched to a soldier who was recently invalided home and who is now an inmate of a hospital in New Zealand. The president stated that she had received a letter of thanks for parcels from a soldier overseas. The competitions for the month were won as follows: —Best bloom, Mrs Reg Houlbrooke; amusement competition, Mrs Seymour; wandering shilling, Mrs Geof. Houlbrooke; best flower spray, Mrs Welsh 1, Mrs Wallis 2. The hostesses were Mrs Wright and Miss Z. Hart. Birthday Party. A party was given by Mr and Mrs G. Hart at their home at Haunui to celebrate the coming of age of their eldest daughter, Dorothy. About 40 guests spent a thoroughly enjoyable time in competitions dancing and community singing, while others played cards in the drawing-room. Mr E. Jewitt, on behalf of those present, extended congratulations to Miss Dorothy Hart and wished her the best of luck. Mr Hansen pronosed the health of Mr and Mrs Hart, after which the twotier cake was cut and pieces handed around. Supper was provided by Mrs Hart and her daughters. Personal Items. Mrs Harman, Junr., has returned home from a holiday spent in Napier. Mrs Raleigh has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs Richardson and family spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs Robbie, Haunui. Privates L. Curtis and F. Herbert are spending their leave in the district. Mrs C. E. Schofield is visiting friends in Martinborough.
