The annual report of the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club states. The Air Force Relations Committee of women came into being shortly after the commencement of the war, and has done a great deal to sponsor assistance for members of the R.N.Z.A.F. in providing knitted wear, foodstuffs and other comforts for distribution. Prison Chaplain Resigns. The Anglican chaplain to the Auckland Prison, the Rev G. E. Moreton, has resigned that position, which he has held since December, 1939. Mr Moreton stated that he had nothing to say at present regarding his resignation, except that he was remaining secretary of the Auckland Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society and would continue his work for ex-prisoners. Mr Moreton and a collaborator, the Rev Melville Harcourt, vicar of Birkenhead, this month published an autobiographical book, “A Parson in Prison,” containing rather severe criticisms of the New Zealand prison system and comparisons with English penal methods as seen by Mr Moreton on a trip abroad in 1936.
