CARTERTON SALE. GOOD COMPETITION. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale: A fair yarding came forward. The best springing heifers and cows were in demand and made very good .prices. Fat and store cows also sold well. Fat sheep met with good competition. The few store sheep offered sold satisfactorily. Pigs were in keen demand and all classes changed hands at prices on a par with late sales. The following are prices:—Sheep: Fat woolly hoggets, to 29s 9d: fat store wethers, 26s 6d to 27s Gd; fat woolly ewes, to 24s 9d; fat shorn ewes, to 13s 8d; woolly ewe hoggets, to 26 ss. Cattle: Jersey cows, just calved, to £10; Jersey heifers oh drop. £lO, £lO 10s to £11; spnng heifers, £6 10s to £7; Jersey cows on drop, £9 10s to £lO 10s; fat heifers, £5 7s to £6; fat cows. £5, £5 6s. £5 12s, £J 15s. £6 to £6 15s; forward cows, £4, £4 4s. £4 10s to £3 17s; store cows, £2. £2 Ils, to £3 10s; cows and calves. £4 16s. £6 las to £7 8s; Jersey bulls, to £11: springing cows, to £G 10s; fat steers, to £lO 10s; Ayrshire bulls, to £9 17s Gd. Pigs: Baconers, to £4* heavy* porkers, <£3 Gs, £3 9s. 12s bcl to £3 14s; porkers, £2 15s to £3: store PJSs£2, £2 Is, £2 4s, £2 ss; slips. 30s, 355, 36s 6d to 375; Weaners, good, 29s to 335; weaners, medium, 25s to 28s 6d; weaners, small, 20s to 24s 6d.
