GREYTOWN

GUESTS, OF HONOUR MEMBERS OF SERVICES ENTERTAINED. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the Greytown Town Hall last evening when the Citizens’ Patriotic Committee entertained Miss M. Keltie, Privates T. Alexander and P. McHardy and Signalman M. O’Kane, who recently returned from the Middle East. The Mayor (Mr A. W. Horton) welcomed Signalman M. O’Kane back to his home town, and expressed the hope that he would soon be restored to good health. Mr Horton extended good wishes to Miss Keltie who had been selected for V.A.D. work overseas. Mr Horton said Miss Keltie had been a most worthy citizen, having taken keen interest in the sporting activities of the town. She had also been a valued member of the local Red Cross Society’s branch. Miss Higginson, president of the Returned Services Association, extended a welcome to Signalman O’Kane.. She also paid a tribute to Miss Keltie for her Red Cross work. On behalf of the Citizens’ Committee Miss Higginson presented the guests of the evening with a gift. Mrs Beu, on behalf of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, spoke on behalf of the Division and handed each of the guests a gift. Mr J. F. Thompson, on behalf of the Swimming Club, presented Miss Keltie with a cheque and extended best wishes to Privates Alexander and McHardy. To Signalman O’Kane he gave a hearty welcome on behalf of his old clubmates. The music for dancing was supplied by Te Tau’s Orchestra. Extras were played by Gunner A. G. Carter. Mr C. Burch acted as M.C. TOWN HALL “MEN OF BOYS' TOWN.” “Men of Boys’- Town,” the thrilling sequel to “Boys’ Town.” will be shown tonight with Mickey Rooney,' Spencer Tracy and Bobs Watson in the chief roles. Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by "Vigil in the Night,” an outstanding drama, featuring Brian Aherne and Carole Lombard. The associate picture is “Two Thoroughbreds,” with Jimmy Lydon and Joan Brodie portraying the principal characters.
