CARTERTON
WASTE PAPER TWENTY-ONE BALES OBTAINED. (“Times-Age” Special.) Twenty-one bales of waste paper were sent away from the Carterton depot yesterday as a war effort. The total weight of the bales was in the vicinity of 5 tons. Shearing Operations. As a result of shearing operations in the district, large quantities of wool are being raied to stores in Wellington in readiness for the first sale next month. Church Service. A Church of England service will be held at Ponatahi on Sunday, at 2 oclock. Scout Rally. The Carterton .Group of Boy Scouts will hold a rally in Carrington Park tomorrow, commencing at 2 o’clock sharp. The club’s aeroplane will be on the ground and will be in operation for flights. The public will no doubt be present in large numbers to watch the practical work done by the boys.
