R.A.F. RAID
ON JAPANESE COAST BASE IN BURMA BUILDINGS HIT AND FIRES STARTED. NO LOSSES OF ATTACKING AIRCRAFT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) RUGBY, October 27. R.A.F. bombers, with a- fighter escort, yesterday attacked the Japanese base at Akyab, says a New Delhi communique. Buildings were bombed and fires started. Our planes followed this up with low-level machine-gun attacks. All the aircraft returned safely.
