FEATHERSTON

DOING EXCELLENT WORK — MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) 1 One of the most useful institutions in 2 the Featherston district is the Miniature 1 Rifle Club. There was a time when miniature rifle clubs were looked upon : as “crazy” affairs, providing members . with a form of sport which only ap- _ pealed to “cranks.” Of late years that viewpoint has changed greatly, and ’ since the war such clubs have proved j of great value as training schools in the 1 ultimate use of the service rifle. The f local club has carried out excellent work in this connection, and its range is 3 open to any soldier who cares to avail , himself of this privilege. The club has f produced some of the outstanding miniature rifle shots of the Dominion, and has a splendid record at miniature rifle championship meetings. Great credit is due to the officials for having kept the club going in these strenuous times, when rifles and ammunition are difficult to obtain. Based on sound business principles, the club is filling a most usef ful function, and members have every i reason to feel proud of an organisation . which is certainly “doing its bit” in the > war. ; The following were the scores in the , weekly competition held by the Fea- > therston Miniature Rifle Club: B. Williams, C. Foster 98, K. McKenzie 97, N. McNamara 96, L. Rasmussen 95, Mrs Rasmussen 93, L. Halpin 90, D. Feast . 95, K. Feast 85, D. Sim 84, G. White 82, t R. Johnson 78, A. Johnson 77. i GARDEN FETE i — i CHILTON ST.
